Our family of four (two kids, ages 8 and 10) had been itching for a break from the daily grind. We decided on a week-long trip to a beautiful beachside resort, aptly named "Step." I'd heard rave reviews about the place, and I was convinced it would be the perfect spot for a relaxing family vacation. My partner and I were looking forward to some much-needed R&R, while the kids were excited for beach time, pool time, and (let's be real) screen time.
So, what did I learn from this vacation? Well, for starters, that even the best-laid plans can go awry. But more importantly, that family vacations are about so much more than just the destination – they're about the experiences, the laughter, and the memories you create along the way.
As we arrived at the resort, things started to go a bit awry. Our room wasn't ready, and we had to wait an extra hour to check-in. Not a huge deal, but it set the tone for the rest of the trip.
